MY FAVOURITE FICTIONAL CHARACTER

My favourite fictional character is Adrian Mole from a story book entitled, “The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾”.While reading the secret diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾, I encountered a lot of entertaining events from beginning till the end of the story. I feel sympathy with Adrian Mole. He seems to not understand real life circumstances. Although the hint was obviously recognize by readers, he still did not realize that something was wrong; the adulterous relationship of his mother
If I am not mistaken, this story is full of dramatic irony. Thus, it causes a lot of hilarious events where as Adrian did not know what was really going on actually but the readers know better than him. So, in my opinion it is very funny. For instance, one of the passages that indicate the funny action is when Adrian wrote “Mr. Lucas came in this morning to see if my mother needed help in the house. He is very kind. Mrs. Lucas was next door cleaning the outside windows”. In this passage, Adrian did not recognize Mr. Lucas intention. He said Mr. Lucas is very “Kind”. Mr. Lucas was actually interested in Adrian’s mother. However, Mr. Lucas intention was clearly recognized by readers.
Furthermore, another funny thing about Adrian is when he believes that he will be an intellectual poet. He has written a poem to Malcalm Muggendge, c/o the BBC and waiting a reply from him. I feel funny when he compared himself with famous poets. He also said that he could write a poem in two minutes.
I think his poem is insignificant to be compared with the famous poets. In my opinion, Adrian is a creative thinker but in sense that makes it funny and amusing. Though he had not intended to be humorous, his poem humorously describes his father and himself. In addition, as an innocent young teenager, he is always insecure with his appearance and not confident of himself. So he believes that he is an intellectual poet. What I really think is, this story is one of the best books that I ever read because of Adrian’s characteristics.
